35 Weeks

My Virgin Reese's Martini from Jen's & Friends. A bar
in Savannah that serves over 100 creative martini's
Last weekend was incredible. Savannah is such a charming Southern city. Husband and I had a great time exploring it with four friends. There was a lot of walking, but we usually made frequent bar stops where I would sit and drink lots of water. I felt great all weekend long. There will be a post coming soon with more details about our adventures.

Nursery update: The rocking chair arrived!! I love it. It is comfortable and very pink. Pictures coming soon. It looks great in the room. Now it's time for me to stop procrastinating and finish the final details of the room.

How far along?  35 weeks. Only FIVE weeks left!!! I finally filled out my birth plan this week and picked a pediatrician. It's starting to hit me that everything is just around the corner.

People keep asking if I'm going to have a natural birth. And in my opinion, unless you have a c-section, it's all natural and part of the bigger design. Now what they are really asking I know is if I am going to have an epidural or not. And really, what is the fascination with this question??? What does it matter? Here are my thoughts on the subject:
                    - Childbirth hurts. There is a reason it's called labor pain
                    - An epidural does not hurt the baby
                    - Everyone has different pain tolerances
                    - Science & medicine continually advance for a reason - to make life better
                    - I'm happy I live in an age where there are options
With that being said I will go as long as I want without an epidural, because I'm crazy like that, but will get one when I feel it is needed.

Total Weight Gained? 26 pounds - official weigh-in at the doctors office. I'm going every week now.
Maternity Clothes?   Yes - I'm almost at the end, but debating on finding a couple dresses to wear to a few events this month to make me feel pretty. I'm also starting to think about purchasing nursing clothes.
Stretch Marks?  No - woo hoo!
Sleep?  It's been rough. Between tossing & turning to get comfortable, heartburn - yuck, and Merrick wanting to love me a few times each night it hasn't be a good week for sleep.
Anyone interested in taking Merrick on a sleepover?

FOUND: Hershey Bear -
not in the nursery
The Moment I've been Expecting to Happen? I've been wondering when my animals would start messing with or in the nursery. The dog wanders in there occasionally, but doesn't stay unless we're in there. The cats still like to hide in the closet sometimes but for the most part they leave it alone. I never even see them on the crib. ...until Thursday morning. We have one cat, Mekare, who might be part dog. She likes to take items and carry them through the house all while she is announcing (howling about) her prize. Typically it is a small cat toy, but sometimes it will be your socks, shirt, or even a larger-than-she-is dog toy. Thursday morning it was the cute Hershey Bear that had been on the changing table. I found in the middle of the family room - Thank you Mekare! (at least cats don't slobber...)

Best Moment of the Week? Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!?!? - I am. I love football season. We kicked it off this week with a Cowboys - Giants viewing party. To Husband's delight the Cowboy's pulled off a victory. She kicked a lot that evening. She was either responding to Husband's sounds of glee or she's already a Cowboy's fan - Lord help me.
Beignets from Huey's

Miss anything? Beer. It goes well with football.
Movement? Regularly
Food Cravings? No, but while we were in Savannah, which is a great Southern foodie city, I had dessert with every meal. yummm!

Most Uncomfortable Moment of the Week?  I had my breastfeeding class this week - two and a half hours of looking at big breasts. For some reason I've been quite worried that it is really going to hurt. But after this class and talking to the older-matter-of-fact-nanny-like lactation specialist I feel more confident that it could be ok.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Not really, but normally I love crab. So while in Savannah I would typically have gravitated toward all crab dishes. I still did a bit out of habit, but none of them tasted quite right to me.

Our delicious breakfast at J.Christopher's. I passed up the Crabcake Benedict which Husband
ordered and opted for the Blueberry Granola Pancakes. AWESOME!

Have you started to show yet?  Yes
Gender?  Girl
Labor Signs?  No - and we did lots of walking in Savannah
Belly Button – In or Out? Out
Wedding Rings – On or Off? Just wearing my anniversary band. My hands were super swollen in Savannah, but that was due to the heat and all the water I was drinking.

Moody? Not typically, but one night this past weekend Husband and I started "fighting" - only it was more like bickering with tears, over crossing the street at a busy intersection when the light turned red. The fight was so ridiculous, especially because I was crying, that it can only be explained by lots of tired hormones on my part and Jack Daniels on his.

Looking Forward To…  My next spa appointment. We are less than a week away from our stay at Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. This spa gets RAVE reviews from everyone. So while the men are playing golf the ladies will be living it up in pure indulgence. I truly can't wait!!!
