Wall of Travel Photos

We took a lot of great photos from our time in Asia that we'd like to display somehow. I still toy with creating a photo book, but it feels like such a daunting task. - So many pictures! How do I pare it down to capture the essence of each unique experience??? I know I should just set a small goal and begin with our first adventure...
The final product - even looks professional!
Top Row:  Li River near Guilin, China;  Great Wall - JinShanLing Section; Bodhnath in Katmandu, Nepal; Prayer Wheel in Shangri-La, China; World Financial Center & Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, China;  Small Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, China.

Bottom Row:  Giant Buddha in LeShan, China;  Terracotta Soldiers in Xi'an, China; Mount Everest taken at Base camp, Tibet; An Ancient Temple discovered in the Taklamakan Desert, China; Fuji Mountain, Japan; Taj Mahal at sunset, India

In the meantime we went to Michael's and bought this nifty guide as well as all the accompanying frames. It is called, Gallery Solutions.

I had the photographs printed by Shutterfly. Their quality and speed was great. When my large pictures arrived with a crease I called to let them know. They rushed out replacement photos immediately.

I won't say when we bought the frames and guide... But we finally put it up on the walls. Surprisingly it went up as easily as the instructions say using their template.

Oh, and we bought this as-seen-on-television product to use to hang all the pictures. Word up, it's not as convenient as it seems on tv.
If you like to blindly hang pictures on the wall, then sure the Insta-Hang is fine. But if you're like us and measure the space and then make a little mark identifying the perfect placement of the nail -Well, there is no way to see your marks using their tool. But it wasn't all a loss. We hand pushed in the thumb tacks that come with it. Those worked well.

Once we got started the hardest part of the project became deciding upon which pictures to use. We toyed with doubling the number frames, but that seems a little excessive. I still am not sure that what we have on the wall now is what will be final. At least we got them up before hitting our one year anniversary of living in this house.
I'm already planning to move the vertical 8x10 photo of the Great Wall into one of the horizontal frames...

Would I consider this project a small miracle for us to complete? No. But it definitely took some time.
